Geeks rejoice! The Hobbit movies are slowly being fleshed into existence with the official announcement of the inclusion of Guillermo Del Toro a writer/director. He is well known for the Pan’s Labyrinth and Hellboy.
We mentioned las time that McKellen is raring to get another crack at this franchise as the wizard Gandalf. The Hobbit will have two movies. The first one deals with the story in the book, while the second movie will show what happened between The Hobbit and The Fellowship of the Ring.
“All I can say is that I am diligently going through all Tolkien material related to Middle-earth but only as a way of bridging a gap in my reading. I still respond the strongest to “The Hobbit,” but as an avid reader of Mythology I find a lot of his other writings fascinating. A perfect Cosmology forged from very eclectic sources”

Hugh Jackman is doing a comic book adaptation again, but it’s not the X-men. Although he is in the middle of shooting an offshoot from the X-men trilogy movies called “X-men Origins:Wolverine”, he’s found a new comic character that he wants to portray.
Nowhere Man is written both by the actor and Amazing Spiderman scribe, Marc Guggenheim; Virgin Comics will be publishing this story. Only bits and pieces are known about this comic. According to the publsher, it is a Sci-Fi story akinto I Am Legend.
If it ever becomes a hit comic book, most likely it may become a movie as well.

Not everyday can you hear about a fellow Filipina making waves out there in the International scene. But I’m sure you know, or at least have heard about, this little Pinay with such a great voice that astonished ordinary and popular people alike in faraway countries.
Charice Pempengco’s amazing voice was said to be inherited from her Mother, who has also been her primary voice coach since Charice began to sing at the tender age of four. She’s been active in singing competitions since way back when, and in 2005, her major break came when she got into ABS-CBN’s Little Big Star and took home the third spot.
Although she didn’t get the top notch, it is one of her performances in the said competition that brought her into international fame. YouTube posted her Little Big Star performance of Whitney Houston’s hit, “I Will Always Love You” and from that her career started to blossom.
If you are a fan of the Korean band Super Junior, then you should know that Charice performed with them before and even had their admiration. That’s quite a surprise, huh? Well, I still haven’t mentioned that even Oprah and her entire audience once got dazzled by her powerful voice. That’s solid proof that she’s truly a gem of a Filipina. So fellowmen, be proud!
“The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” is the new Indiana Jones movie that has already won critical acclaim just a few days after it was released online. The fans were also delighted with the return of Ford as Indiana Jones, who played the same role 18 years ago. This movie will be released in May this year.
Many bloggers have been expressing disappointment over the movie version of the popular TV show that has received quite a following from fans all over the world. Recycled dresses, an utterly bland plot and same old story about working class people who go to a major city to find love. Love???? What does moving to the big city have to do with love, I thought it had to do with making it big and earning a living. Some say that you don’t go to the city to work yourself to death to buy hundred or thousand dollar bags and shoes. Just think if they had made the plot and story a bit realistic it would have shown the growth of the characters. Well, who cares, they’re still earning on the box office and that’s what matters in Hollywood!
The truth is still out there…it just doesn’t have a film title yet. The creator of the hit series, Chris Carter and his co-writer, Frank Spotnitz, showed a trailer of the movie last Wednesday during the 25th annual William S. Paley Television Festival.
The movie returns with the old crew of Fox Mulder, played by David Duchovny, and Dana Scully, played by Gillian Anderson. The story starts after six years from the end of the TV series (lasted from 1993 to 2002 so do the math). According to reports, it’ll distance itself from the alien mythology and instead focus on more personal matters like Scully’s child.
We’re still hoping that aliens move in somewhere in the movie.

Sir Ian McKellen, otherwise known to the young generation as both the evil mutant Magneto in the X-men series and as the White Wizard Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, have no qualms in reprising his role as the mentioned wizard in “The Hobbit”–a prequel to the the Lord of the Rings.
When asked to comment about his return to the L.O.T.R. Franchise, he said,”Yes, I will, if PETER JACKSON and I have anything to do with it, he being the producer and me being, on the whole, a very lucky actor.” Hopefully the the director, Guillermo del Torre agrees with him.
